Giving Thanks

By Rick Pollack
November 22, 2017

Every day, hospitals and health systems across the country are challenged in so many ways as you seek to care for those in your community. In the midst of these challenges, however, are incredible improvements in the health and wellbeing of our communities – giving all of us much for which we can be thankful.

More than 20 million Americans gained health coverage over the last three years through a combination of Medicaid expansion and enrollment in private market coverage on the marketplace exchanges. We’ve seen continued progress in improving the quality and safety of the care we provide. In moments of crisis, we have shown our communities the depth of our commitment to their health and safety by continuing to provide vital services for all in need.

Day in and day out, you and your colleagues – the women and men of America’s hospitals and health systems – show what is really behind the blue and white hospital “H” that dots the roadsides of communities across the country … not just buildings and equipment, but the inherent human strength of people who care.

The AHA has been especially proud to serve with you this year. We give thanks for your courage and hard work and wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving.
