It's about patients

By Rick Pollack
September 11, 2015

As we move forward through the changing health care landscape, we know it’s all about patients. Patients are why hospitals partner to improve quality. Patients are why hospitals stand together to express their views on legislation and regulations. And patients are why I testified this week before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform about hospitals’ commitment to transform care. I told them that hospitals and health systems are realigning so patients have convenient access to care. You’re coordinating with caregivers to deliver care that’s more patient-centered. You’re teaming up with other providers to unify patient information, coordinate transitions and follow-up care. You’re partnering to find innovative models and solutions to ensure patients have access to care in rural, frontier, inner-city and other challenged communities. In short, I told them hospitals are committed to doing whatever it takes to deliver the care patients need.
